Professional Development Foundation |
The mission of the VAGP Professional Development Foundation includes providing scholarships to VAGP members for their continuing education and professional development efforts. In April 2002, The Supply Room Companies pledged up to $1,000 per year to fund a scholarship. In response to this generous offer, the Foundation Board of Directors created The Supply Room Scholarship. Each year the scholarship will support a VAGP member’s pursuit of professional certification when entity funding is either limited or is not available. The Supply Room Scholarship is intended to assist in the professional development of VAGP members through funding for courses, application fees, or testing fees required to obtain professional purchasing certification. VAGP members who expand their knowledge through educational opportunities and seek professional certification demonstrate a high standard of competency in the public procurement profession. Professional certification benefits the individual member, their employer, the Association, and the purchasing profession. GUIDELINES The scholarship may be used for expenses incurred to obtain certification such as CPPB or CPPO. Allowable expenses could include registration fees, travel expenses for core seminars, certification application fees and/or testing fees for certification. Awards are limited to the actual allowable expenses up $1,000. The Foundation will reimburse the recipient upon submission of appropriate receipts. Applications will be accepted until October 1st, 2010. The scholarship recipient will be announced at the VAGP Fall Conference Banquet. The scholarship award is competitive. The VAGP Foundation Board of Directors will evaluate all applications and select the recipient based upon the following criteria: CRITERIA Applicants must be VAGP members Personal Ambitions and Goals relative to public purchasing The applicant must show relevance of expense to certification Limited/Unavailable Entity Funding The intent of the scholarship is to assist members with their individual out-of-pocket expenses, not to supplant entity funding.
