Professional Development Foundation |
The Foundation is a non-profit organization founded for the purpose of enhancing the levels of professionalism of those responsible for the effective, efficient and ethical expenditure of public funds in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Virginia Association of Governmental Purchasing (VAGP) is a 40 year old organization with more than 1,200 members representing 300 local and state agencies in the Commonwealth. The VAGP is a Chapter of the National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP), the preeminent public purchasing association in North America with members from all levels of local, state and federal governments in all 50 states and Canada. NIGP represents over 12,000 public procurement professionals. It is active worldwide through association with The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) in England, and the Irish Institute of Purchasing and Materials Management (IPMM). Clearly, identity with the VAGP literally offers an opening to the world. Funds for this do not come from the Virginia Association of Governmental Purchasing but must come, instead, from those interested in insuring that the expenditure of public funds is done by highly trained and competent professionals in a fair, effective and efficient manner. |
